PDR explained

What Is Paintless Dent Repair?

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) — also called dry denting — is a repair method that removes dents by carefully reshaping the metal from behind the panel with precision tools and specialised lighting. Because the paint is never sanded, filled or resprayed, the panel keeps its original factory finish.

PDR works best when the paint is intact and the dent is accessible from behind. Suitability depends on the dent's depth, location, the panel's paint condition and how sharp the damage is — which is why we always assess photos first.

What we check in your photos

  • Paint condition — intact paint is the first requirement.
  • Depth and sharpness — soft, gradual dents repair best.
  • Location on the panel — edges, bodylines and braces take longer.
  • Access behind the panel — or room for glue pulling.
  • Previous repairs — old filler rules out PDR.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Paintless Dent Repair?

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR) is a method of removing dents by reshaping the metal from behind the panel with precision tools and reflection lighting. No filler, primer or paint is used, so the panel keeps its original factory finish.

Can every dent be repaired using PDR?

No. PDR needs intact paint, metal that has not been stretched or torn, and a way to reach the back of the dent (or room for glue pulling). Suitability depends on dent depth, location, paint condition and panel access — which is why we assess photos first and tell you honestly.

Can I send photos before visiting?

Yes, and we recommend it. Use the "Send Your Dent Photos" form or WhatsApp. We reply with whether the dent is suitable and an approximate estimate, so you only visit when it makes sense.

Can crease dents be repaired?

Shallow to moderate creases with intact paint repair very well with PDR. Very sharp, deep creases may only be improved rather than fully removed — we tell you which before starting.

Can hail damage be repaired with PDR?

Yes — PDR is the standard method for hail worldwide because hail rarely breaks paint. Every dent on each panel is removed from behind and the car keeps all of its original paint.

How is the price calculated?

By dent size, depth, type (round, crease, bodyline), the panel it sits on and how easy the access is. Multiple dents on one panel cost less per dent. We give an approximate estimate from photos and confirm it at the workshop after inspecting under PDR lighting.

How long does PDR take?

A single door ding: 20–45 minutes. Minor dents: 30 minutes to 2 hours. Creases and bodyline dents: 1–4 hours. Large dents and hail damage: from half a day to several days.

Does PDR affect factory paint?

No. Factory paint is flexible enough to move with the metal during the repair. Nothing is sanded, filled or sprayed, and paint-thickness gauges read the same after the repair as before.
